Offsetting Our Carbon

From heating an office to transporting goods or people, all of our everyday actions consume energy and produce carbon dioxide emissions. Carbon dioxide is believed to be the most significant greenhouse gas contributing to global warming. Offsetting is a way of compensating for these emissions with an equivalent carbon dioxide saving, thus lessening the impact of our actions.
Whilst there are a number of regulations that require some companies to reduce and offset their emissions (e.g. power companies), there are some businesses and individuals that choose to offset their emissions to help mitigate against their own activities. Creative Emporium is one of these companies!
We’ve recently bought carbon credits with Pure:The Clean Planet Trust to help us offset 37.80 tonnes of carbon dioxide and ‘neutralise’ our utilities use (water, gas and electricity). These carbon credits all come from renewable energy and efficiency projects and comply with the governments Quality Assurance Scheme for Carbon Offsetting.
In simple terms, we have contributed towards sustainable energy projects which will in turn save carbon dioxide from being emitted into the atmosphere. This in effect cancels out the CO2 generated by Creative Emporium’s building.
